Shine Week at Bright City is a week of intentional outreach, showing up for our city, serving our neighbors, and creating space for people to experience hope. Through acts of service and shared moments together, we see the light of Christ at work, live it out, and share it with our community.

Day 1: SEEN MOm’s Car Wash
Outreach Focus: SEEN Moms, equipping single moms through coaching and community. Read more about this mission partner by visiting their website.
How YOU can serve:
We need 8-12 volunteers to provide a free, full-detailed car wash for the moms involved with SEEN Moms.
Time & Location:

Day 2: Prepare & Prayer Night
Outreach Focus: Bright City neighbors in the Wagener Terrace neighborhood.
How YOU can serve:
Refreshing our building and prayer-walking our neighborhood to make room for our neighbors as we invite and welcome them into our community events this week! Join us at any time during this gathering.

Day 3: Community book swap

How YOU can serve:
1. Donate Books in advance! See Criteria for donations before donating.
2. Invite Others - download this flyer to personally invite others or share on your socials. 3. Volunteer at the event - we need 8-10 volunteers to make this community gathering happen.
Early book collection: February 15-28
Book Drop Off: Bins outside in alley behind Bright City Church
Additional drop-off location: Allegro Charter School of Music in Park Circle, Monday + Wednesdays (Feb 18-25, ask for Skyla Sale)

Day 4: PostPartum Moms Support
Outreach Focus: Postpartum Moms Charleston: You can read more about this partner by visiting their website.
How YOU can serve:
Join Bright Students for a Lasagna Assembly Night! Postpartum Support Charleston hand delivers lasagnas made with love and infant care packages to the homes of families bringing home a new baby. We will assemble lasagnas as a team (no cooking required) that will be frozen and then delivered throughout our community. Come out to have some fun, learn a new lasagna recipe, and bless new moms in our city.

Day 5: Student & Teacher Care Package Drive
Outreach Focus: Teachers of Mitchell Elementary & College of CHS Students
How YOU can serve:
1. Bring donated goods each Sunday before March 5, drop in the basket set up at Bright City. Think non-perishable treats, gift cards $15 or larger (Doordash, Starbucks, Grocery) and hand-written notes of encouragement. This is not a canned food drive!
2. Help put the local teacher & student care packages together on Thursday, March 5th.

Day 6: Litter Clean Up

How YOU can serve: We need at least 8 volunteers to join us in picking up litter as we revitalize local spaces and the well-being of children and wildlife in our community.

Day 7: Water Mission WFW Prep
Outreach Focus: Prep for Water Mission’s Walk For Water (kid friendly).
How YOU can serve: We need 15-25 people to help refresh Water Mission’s facility by scraping and painting their exterior building walls as well as prep their inside tour space for Walk for Water.
